It was created by the resettlement of the works of Siemens & Halske and their subsidiary Siemens-Schuckert (SSW) with the associated modern factory buildings on Nonnenwiesen. The district is still characterised by extensive industrial facilities and green residential complexes, but the companies no longer belong exclusively to Siemens AG.
